Last night, Microsoft began rolling out a preview version of Skype for Outlook.com, bringing audio and video calling powered by Skype to every Outlook.com inbox. The rollout begins in the United Kingdom and will expand to the United States and Germany in coming weeks.
Not familiar with Outlook.com? It’s the free, personal email service from Microsoft that attracted 60 million new users in its first six months after launch, making it the fastest-growing email service in history.
We all know how jumping on a call often makes more sense – and is a lot more fun – than typing out a message. Now you can choose the right medium for your message, whether it’s an email, audio call, video call or instant message (IM). The introduction of Skype for Outlook.com means you can connect with your Skype and Messenger friends all in the same place.
