I hardly got rid of the sand from my last holiday-trip. Now I packed my bags again heading for Orlando, Fla., where the Microsoft Ignite event starts on Monday the 24th. We can expect a horn of plenty of solutions and services around Intelligent Cloud and Intelligent Edge there. Speculations are running wild, expectations are high. The general tendency of predictions is like this: more Azure, less Windows. Well, see what will happen.

Certainly, Microsoft Ignite will present lots of bright ideas. But even more important is the fact, that – after Microsoft Inspire in July – this will be the largest event for the whole Microsoft ecosystem. Here we will bring together our customer´s top IT-pros with developers and consultants of our partners and, of course, the entire management from Microsoft. In spite of being the venue of new announcements of solutions and services this event has one single mission: it is all about listening to learn more about the needs of our customers, recommendations of our partners and the technological trends ahead. The goal is to turn this input into products.

Because we want to understand and be understood, who to make sense of all these technological building blocks that occur today. We want to show, how these things fit together for the benefit for all of us. Thus it is most important to understand not only the technology behind business processes but new business processes itself. Things change dramatically not only driven by technology, but because our habits and the way we live together change fundamentally. That´s what we have to cope with. That´s why we want to listen and to understand.

There will be bright ideas from our partners and customers at the Microsoft Ignite event. And we will adjust our solutions and services around Azure and Windows accordingly. If you take a look at the agenda with approximately 700 sessions and 100 workshops, you will easily anticipate announcements covering SQL Server 2019, Windows virtualisation, Microsoft 365, Surface Hub 2 and the Azure solution stack together with artificial intelligence.

No wonder that the Orlando conference center in Orlando was sold out within a few days. Those who haven´t made it this year to be with us can choose between two options to stay in touch. Follow this link to tune in and follow the most important events of this year´s Microsoft Ignite. And: I will post daily blogs live from Orlando during the days to come. All the upcoming posts of “Oliver´s travles through the intelligent cloud“ are dedicated to the bright ideas at Microsoft Ignite.

So: stay tuned on this channel!
