With Office 365 ProPlus, you can perform either a Quick Repair or an Online Repair by opening Programs and Features in Control Panel. A Quick Repair will fix most issues and all activity happens locally. An Online Repair will uninstall and reinstall Office 365 ProPlus.
Automating a Quick Repair is certainly possible and can be performed by executing integratedoffice.exe using the command-lines below.
To run a Quick Repair for 64-bit operating systems:
“C:\program files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe” RUNMODE RERUNMODE modetorun repair
To run a Quick Repair for 32-bit operating systems:
“C:\program files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX86\integratedoffice.exe” RUNMODE RERUNMODE modetorun repair
When you automate a Quick Repair of Office 365 ProPlus, note that the only difference in the command syntax is the location of integratedoffice.exe. Integratedoffice.exe is process that launches all Office applications, initiates the Click-to-Run installation processes, and handles several other tasks including streaming, bootstrapping, and monitoring for updates.
So what are some situations when a Quick Repair is needed? As a Quick Repair will fix most issues, it’s a great troubleshooting step for your Help Desk. A Quick Repair is also needed after you uninstall an older version of Office from a side-by-side configuration with Office 365 ProPlus. A Quick Repair ensures that opening .doc or .docx files, for example, will open correctly in Word 2013 after the older version is uninstalled. If you don’t do this last step, users won’t be able to launch Office applications because the file extensions will still point to the old version of Office.
