Pecs, schmecs. Groundbreaking Skype-based campaign says ‘show us your specs!’

Look amazing in your glasses? Sure you do! And if you live in the United Kingdom, you can submit your spec-sporting photos through Skype for a chance to win a sun-filled trip to the Caribbean.

Microsoft Advertising U.K. has teamed with media agency MGOMD, DG MediaMind and Specsavers to once again push the creative and technological boundaries of digital media. This latest endeavor kicks up the fun for Specsavers’ “Spectacle wearer of the year” competition by enabling entry via Skype.

The campaign uses display ads or leaderboards within the Skype interface, teasing users to click to activate their webcams and enter. The Skype user then simply snaps a picture of his or her bespectacled self and enters the competition. Top prize for “Spectacle wearer of the year” is a trip for two to St. Lucia.
