There’s a clamor over Yammer. Microsoft acquired the enterprise social networking company last summer for $1.2 billion, and just eight months later, Yammer sales have grown 259 percent year-over-year. Yes, you read those three digits correctly. In that time, Yammer also gained 312 new companies as customers.
The folks in Microsoft Office are thrilled with the growth, but note that the opportunities are just beginning for incorporating social communication and collaboration at work. Yammer and Microsoft have a vision of weaving these social capabilities into the productivity apps people use every day.
