My keynote at MMS yesterday featured six separate demos (if you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch it on-demand here), and, as promised on-stage, this post will provide a detailed overview of each one.
What’s really exciting to me about each of these demos is how they show, in great detail, the thorough consistency that is enabled across clouds, and I also love how the first five demos all feature deep Windows Azure integration. It’s also interesting to point out that the first four demos are built on SCDEMO (which you can see in action here).

The first demo, presented by Vijay Tewari, showed how Microsoft’s management tools are Best-in-class for Microsoft workloads.
This demo is a quick look at a private cloud that showcases how Microsoft is the best platform for running Microsoft workloads, like SQL, Exchange, and SharePoint. Vijay did this by walking us through a SharePoint Service Template which facilitates repeatable and error-free deployments using Virtual Machine Manager. He also showed how to extend your datacenter into Windows Azure and use the same VHD’s used on-premise to deploy workloads there.

Demo number two, also presented by Vijay, discussed the innovations that we have made in storage and networking.
This demo highlights the advances and momentum that we are seeing in the use of industry-standard storage to get fast and highly redundant access to data. Vijay also highlighted how our advances in software-defined networking enables organizations to quickly adapt to their changing network needs.

The third demo, presented by Matt McSpirit, highlighted Application Insight and Monitoring.
This demo showcases how IT pros can manage SLA’s through optimal configurations and deep application insight. Matt did this by showing the new capabilities of System Center Advisor for best practice configuration guidance – and also through Global Service Monitor (GSM), the Windows Azure-based service integrated with System Center – to provide application performance monitoring from points of presence all over the world.

The fourth demo, presented by Michael Leworthy, was an overview of Microsoft’s solution for Continuous services through resiliency and automation.
This demo explains how the IT pro can use System Center 2012 to intelligently scale applications in response to changes in business demand. Michael did this by showing a response to an Ops Manager performance alert through an Orchestrator runbook, and then scaling the web tier in Windows Azure to meet that business demand.
The fifth demo, presented by Adam Hall, focused on User and Device Management.
This demo shows how easy it is to enable IT pros to manage all of their devices on-premises and in the cloud by connecting Windows Intune to System Center Configuration Manager. Adam showed how making this connection allows users to get a unified view of all their devices and apps across both environments.

The sixth and final demo, also presented by Adam, displayed Microsoft’s solution for Access and Information Protection.
This demo shows how a business can protect its sensitive corporate information regardless of where its employees are working. To do this, Adam configured dynamic access controls and applied automatic machine learning policies to scan the content of documents and protect the sensitive information.
